Hello, friends!  My name’s Darcy.  I’m a 26-year-old Iowan, currently working as a law clerk.  I started this little blog in August of 2010 as a forum for talking about food, frivolity, and sometimes fitness.  It’s a nice escape from my usual endeavors, and it motivates me to try new things in the kitchen.

I love testing recipes (mostly healthy, sometimes not) and experimenting with new ingredients.  I’m a vegetarian, and lately I’ve been enjoying trying lots of vegan recipes as well.  I’m not an expert on anything (except maybe The Babysitter’s Club?), but if you want to email me anyway, it’s shesingsatthetable@gmail.com.

P.S. Perhaps I should explain the blog’s title, huh?  Well, I have two older brothers, and back when we all lived at home with the parents one of them tried to institute a “no singing at the table” rule.  While I was generally an obedient youngster, I refused to suppress my frequent urges to burst into song over a good meal…and I see no reason to start now.

  1. I have learned over the last 13 years that if you were the author of something; it was bound to be an enjoyable read! This blog is a treat; just as I suspected :) Good job Darcy, I look forward to trying some of your recipes, starting with the frozen banana ice cream tonight.
